Dalrada + ATI of New York · Hot water. Reimagined.
From outdoor air to useful hot water.
Outdoor air provides heat. Electricity drives the refrigeration cycle. A heat exchanger transfers energy to water. CO₂, also known as R744, is the refrigerant used in the system.

New York project planning
Review CO₂ water heating for the site conditions
For a New York project, compare the manufacturer’s documented performance at the intended outdoor and water temperatures. Keep winter operation, water return conditions and storage design in the same study instead of selecting equipment from one headline performance value.
- Outdoor design conditions supplied by the project engineer
- Cold-water inlet, hot-water outlet and return temperatures
- Confirmed regional model and manufacturer documentation
Distinguish refrigerant from emissions
The name CO₂ heat pump describes a refrigerant choice. It does not establish the building’s carbon savings. An emissions comparison requires energy use, the baseline system and the relevant emissions factors.
Read the operating conditions
Outdoor air, incoming water and required hot-water temperatures matter when reviewing performance. Use the manufacturer’s documented operating envelope and the confirmed regional equipment version. Do not extrapolate a performance table beyond its supported points.
Connect the equipment to a system
Production, stratified storage, distribution and recirculation must work together. Review incoming and return-water temperatures, recovery time and usable stored energy before deciding how the plant should connect.
Questions before you begin
Does one COP value describe the whole year?
No. A single operating point does not represent all outdoor temperatures, water temperatures, controls and building demand patterns.
Which documents should I use?
Start with the linked manufacturer material, then confirm the exact model, edition and regional version applicable to the proposed supply.
